Why scrapping of post-utme is a big mistake. See Disadvantages

The scrapping of post utme by the FG has lead to many controversial issues which are now being debated on by candidates and non-candidates who are concerned especially the issue on the recently proposed JAMB Admission screening model that caught everyone by surprise.

The newly released JAMB Admission screening model is a good news to some candidate but also a bad one for some candidate who in one way or the other noticed that the new system may affect or reduce their chances of gaining admission into higher institution
of their choice this year.

Let's see the pros and cons of this new development by FG and the Board.

Why scrapping of post-utme is a big mistake. See Disadvantages

Advantages of Scrapping Post-utme and the new adopted system of Admission

  • Candidates with high jamb score have a higher chances of being admitted since post-utme will no longer be conducted
  • Candidates are not expected to pay for any post-utme except if the institution demand a little charges for the screening process
  • Candidates with good and excellent O'level result coupled with a reasonable jamb score will surely be admitted
  • If eventually you were not admitted even though you meet up with the cut-off mark, JAMB will send your name to another institution or to
    your second choice of instittution.

Disadvantages of Scrapping Post-utme and the new adopted system of Admission

  • Candidates have to be provisionally admitted by jamb into their choice of institution for them to be qualified for screening
  • Candidates O'level result will now be the main criteria in screening and grading process when it's obvious that some students didn't own their O'level result but got it through examination malpractice and miracle centres.
  • Candidates with one sitting O'level result have an edge over those with two sittings.
  • Even after being admitted by JAMB, you might still be denied admission if you didn't meet up with the course cut-off mark in that institution
  • Factors like Catchment areas and ELDS(Educationally Less Developed States) will be used in determining the number of candidates admitted
  • The rate of admitting science students will be very high compared to other departments
  • Students that registered with awaiting result are therefore advice to wait till next year since they don't have result to present for the screening
    process
I Wish all the aspirants success in their battle for admission into their choice of institution.
