How to Stop Ads on Android HomeScreen: All Steps to Follow

There are different ways on how to stop ads on android phone. The solution differs and depends on where the advert is coming from.

The first step on how to get rid of ads on android phone is to set your phone to disallow "Apps installation from an unknown source"

How do we get that done? Follow the procedures below:
  • Go to Settings
  • Scroll down and click Security
  • Scroll down to Device Administration and disable Unknown sources
That is the end of the First step. Now let's take a look at the second step to block ads on android phone.

Procedures:
  • Go back to Settings
  • Click on Data Usage
  • Now Click on the three vertical dots located at the top left corner of your screen
  • Tap Restrict background data and click Ok.
  • What we just did now will restrict the data running in the background.That is notifications from Apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, and the likes might be disabled.

NB: Don't worry, we will allow background data to run at the end of the tutorial.

The third step on how to stop ads on android phone is to check if the ads is coming from a third-party app 

The Apps you install on your phone might be the cause of the pop up ads. Don't be shocked if I tell you that your favourite chatting & messaging App, Whatsapp can be the cause of pop up ads. Probably, you download the Whatsapp from an unreliable source.
How do we do this? This can be achieved using a third party App as well. The Application will screen all your installed Apps to search for the culprit and present it to you.

  • Just go to Google and search for "Ads Detector" or "Ads Blocker".
  • Download the one suitable for your device.
  • Launch it and screen all your installed Apps.

If the Popup Ads keep coming up even after going through the third step, it shows the advert is not coming from any app installed on your phone but from your device software.

Follow the guidelines listed below to stop ads on android phone

  • Go to Settings
  • Scroll down and click on Apps
  • Swipe your screen to All section
  • You will see a list of all your installed Apps in Alphabetical order. Scroll down and click on Browser
  • Click Disable button and your browser will be moved to Disabled Section without affecting the performance of your phone.

This method is by far the simplest and easiest way to avoid adverts while browsing on your Android phone since the free Opera Browser App came with a built-in ad blocker. However, it might not be an ideal solution for you if you use Google Chrome or Firefox browser on your other devices.
To block ads while browsing, you don't need to do anything special. Just download and install Opera and use it like any other browser and be free from ads.
NB: You can download Opera Browser free from Google Play.

If your favourite Android browser happens to be Chrome, then the only way to block ads while browsing with Chrome browser is to enable "Data Saver Mode".

If you are sticking Chrome, this is the only step you can take to avoid data-hogging content online.
Data Saver compresses aspects of web pages that aren't required on mobile devices. It helps to save your data bill and offers a smoother web browsing experience as your phone no longer struggles to pull down unnecessary random ads and animations.
It can lead to a somewhat good browsing experience, and there is a possibility that some web pages will look wonky. But you can always disable Data Saver - it's a two-second job.
Open up Chrome, and then hit the three dots menu icon in the top righthand corner. Choose Settings, then find Data Saver. Ensure this is set to On.
